Newcastle is famous for :-
Coal - Hundreds of tons of coal are transported to Newcastle from the Hunter Valley every day and put onto the massive ships that queue out into the Pacific as far as the eye can see.
Wine - Newcastle is the un-official Capital of the Hunter Valley. Many a fine wine can be had here
Beer - The Blue Tongue brewery
Pasha Bulker The headline picture is off the Pasha Bulker which Grounded on Nobby's beach last year. Read more
Silverchair A famous band (apparantly) & INXS (I have heard of them.)
Earthquake - In 1989 an earthquake measuring 5.6 struck the city. Many buildings were destroyed or damanged.
